Zerg Vs Terran – Beating Marines and Marauders
We Zerg players hate going up against a good Terran player who uses marines, marauders, and medivacs. Our army of roaches and hydralisks get ripped apart by the marauders getting constantly healing by the medivacs. This guide will show you how to take out the famed marine, marauder, medivac army that most Terran players are using on battlenet right now. The key to winning this type of game is going back to the basics and by basics I mean the basic unit, zerglings and their cousins the baneling. Banelings will make very short work of marines and marauders and the speed zerglings will get upclose and personal with the marauders who like to stay at range. After the reaper rush fails the Terran player will swtich over to his main army and you will start building some banelings. The only thing you need to watchout for is if the Terran player techs to banshees.
Why You Should Rush As Zerg
Rushing is a great tactic if used right but it can also be a really bad decision if you do it wrong. If you do an effective rush it will cripple your opponent’s economy or maybe even win the game if you are lucky. In the meantime the Zerg player has crippled himself by making the spawning pool so early and not building up his drones.
I do recommend doing a late rush with Zerg though as it can be very effective. Start off by building up your drones and make one extractor. When the speed upgrade finishes you should have 20 or so zerglings. Take the zerglings and run into your opponents base straight to the workers, ignore the army and take out as many workers as you can. This will halt the production of your opponent and at the same time he is focusing on building back up his workers you can build up your roach/hydra army and finish him off.
Zerg Build Orders
A good Zerg player can do a very effective late rush but I would recommend staying away from the very early rushes that we are seeing all over battlenet right now. A diamond level player will not fall to an early rush and in fact, in most cases it will leave you in a worse position after the failed rush then your opponent. When you hit 10 drones build an overlord and then pump out 3 more drones when the overlord finishes. Build a spawning pool after the 3 drones and then make 1 extractor and throw 3 drones on it. Continue to build drones until the pool finishes then make a queen. When the speed upgrade finishes take all your zerglings and head for your opponent’s expansion, take out the workers and then head straight into his main base and also take out as many workers as you can. You may not be a huge fan of rushing like that, in which case you would build a mixture or drones and zerglings/roaches until you hit 30 drones instead of only building zerglings after the first 18 or so drones.

Terran Unit Counter Guide
So you’re playing Terran, in the middle of a 1v1 game. You’ve scouted your opponent pretty well and you have a decent idea of what kind of strategy he’s using. One thing that will make you a successful Starcraft 2 player is your ability to counter your opponents units. I’ve put together a list of my favorite Terran counters.
Let’s say your opponent is Zerg: If he Techs to Mutalisks I almost always go straight Vikings and Marines. Hellions, Siege Tanks, and even Mauraders will be much more effective. Now against a Protoss Opponent: If they use a Zealot, Sentry, Stalker combo, I usually counter with Mauraders, Hellions and Tanks. Finally against an army of Colossus, Vikings will be the most effective, accompanied by Siege Tanks.
Generally though I’ll try and counter my opponents units. If I see him going Bionic (Marines, Mauraders, Ghosts) I love to counter with Hellions and Tanks.
Protoss Vs Terran Basic Strategy
Playing as Protoss against Terran can be a very difficult game as Terran is so unpredictable and hard to scout. Protoss must know what the enemy is doing so they can build the correct counter units but this is a challenge against good Terran players. This guide will show you how to beat a Terran player 1v1. If the Terran playing is using thors or tanks then build some immortals as they will dominate the thors and tanks without even taking that much damage. The Terran player might make an air attack with vikings and banshees. I wouldn’t recommend building air units when playing against Terran because marines do decent damage to air units and that alone will be enough to defend against your void ray attack or even a few carriers. If you follow this guide and learn the strengths and weaknesses of your units then you should have not trouble beating a good Terran player.
